Head of Department "Business and Strategy"
Dr Christian Wernick studied business administration at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and graduated in 2003 (Diplom Kaufmann). Subsequent he served as research assistant at Professor Picot’s Institute for Information, Organisation and Management and received a doctorate in public economics (Dr. oec. publ.) in 2007. During his tenure at Prof. Picot’s institute he was engaged in the European Communications Council and spent a three month research visit at Professor Martin Cave’s Centre for Management under Regulation at Warwick University.
Between September 2007 and June 2010 Dr. Wernick worked as a senior consultant for WIK’s NGN and Internet Economics department. During this period, he dealt with various questions in the areas of strategy, regulatory economics, and cartel law and did projects for numerous national and international customers. Among others he conducted projects on topics such as network neutrality, next generation networks and next generation access.
Between July 2010 and September 2015 he served as Expert Key Account Manager Carrier Management for 1&1, the second largest DSL operator in the German market. In this position he was responsible for the negotiation of conditions for the purchase of fixed wholesale products and the strategic lead and management of 1&1’s relations to alternative network partners. Moreover, he supported the management board in strategic projects with regard to technological developments as well as market- and competitor trends and the establishment of new partnerships and business models.
In October 2015 Dr Christian Wernick returned to WIK-Consult to become head of WIK’s Business and Strategy department.
