Fairness for the Fast Lane
In light of the upcoming EU Regulation on net neutrality, it is important to understand consumer preferences for quality-differentiated services in major markets. WIK-Consult and YouGov have conducted representative surveys in the UK, the US and Germany on issues around the Open Internet including paid prioritisation, equality of access and data capping. We found that consumer preferences are more nuanced than previously expected. Consumers support an open Internet. For them, this includes prioritised services, but they do not want to see their access or data limited. There are significant differences across the markets we have investigated.
