Bernd Sörries has studied Public Policy and Management at the University of Konstanz and the University of Gothenburg (Sweden). He holds a Ph.D. in social sciences. In 1998 he joined the mobile operator E-Plus Mobilfunk. With E-Plus he had leading positions in strategy, regulatory and corporate affairs. In 2010 he founded the research center for mobile broadband at the University of Münster. Currently he is visiting lecturer (Telecommunication Law and Economics) at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences. Beside his research activities he has acted as a consultant with a particular focus on issues like smart energy (smart grid, smart metering), frequency policy, business development and broadband networks. From 2009 until 2017 he was Chairman of the Information and Telecommunication Committee of the German Association of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK). In February 2017 Bernd Sörries joined WIK-Consult.
