Incentive regulation in the German electricity and gas sector - efficiency and reliability to set the yardstick

On behalf of the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) WIK-Consult organised a two-day international scientific conference in April 2006.

The main goal of the meeting was to discuss the concept of an incentive regulation developed by the Agency for implementation in Germany with high-level scientists active in the field of network regulation and to ask the speakers to comment on the proposed framework.

Besides researchers from all over the world representatives of other authorities involved in the process (e.g. Federal Ministry of Economics, Federal Cartel Office and Monopolies Commission) as well as representatives of the industry took part in the conference.

More than 70 external participants took the opportunity to be informed about the framework of the upcoming incentive regulation in Germany . Therefore, the conference constitutes a major part of the overall consultation process the Agency has arranged with respective stakeholders.
