Urban data platforms enable municipalities to process urban Open Data (e.g. from the fields of environment, transport and security), to connect it in a structured way and to use it for services and applications. If such platforms are used in the smart city context, individual use cases in the municipalities can create added value for administrations and citizens. The potential and the variety of applications of an urban data platform increase with the number of open data sets available.
At the workshop, the focus was on drivers and barriers for the provision and use of urban data, as well as questions about current and future business models. Five top-class speakers could be recruited for the event:
