Options of wholesale access to Cable-TV networks with focus on VULA

WIK supported the Dutch NRA ACM in the market analysis according to the new market definition of the European Commission.

WIK supported the Dutch NRA ACM in the market analysis according to the new market definition of the European Commission (C(2014) 71674 final of 9.10.2014). The European Commission recommended to include into the analysis of the new market 3a) „Wholesale local access provided at a fixed location" an investigation if new technologies (Cable-TV with Docsis 3.0 and 3.1 (also LTE advanced)) and network operators running such networks and their products would have to be included into the market because of its new, advanced technical, operational and capacity characteristics. Therefore WIK Consult, together with ContaQ Consulting, held a training and workshop for ACM in Den Haag in July 2014, followed by a study dealing with dedicated aspects of VULA characteristics in Cable-TV networks in depth in January 2015.

ACM started a market consultation regarding its draft market definition on 1. April 2015, also publishing a larger number of documents of Dutch stakeholders and the two WIK-Consult/ ContaQ Consulting documents. The ACM consultation can be found here:

Here you will also find the WIK presentation for the workshop as well as the study answering in depth questions.
