BMWi asked WIK-Consult for analysing the technical capacity especially of radio technologies like WLAN, WiMAX, UMTS-TDD, UMTS/HSPA, DVB-T, satellite systems as well as fixed networks like Powerline and CATV. The study pinpoints the potentials of alternative infrastructure in fostering competition and their contribution to enlarge broadband coverage in underserved areas of Germany.
