Julia Wielgosch has been working at WIK since March 2018. Previously, she completed a master's degree in economics (M.Sc. Economics) at the University of Cologne and a bachelor's degree in economics at the University of Kassel, both with a focus on regional and urban economics. During stays abroad, she deepened her knowledge in the areas of integrated and sustainable urban development in Mexico as well as in European economic policy.

At WIK, she works as a Senior Economist. Her work focuses on the digital transformation of cities and regions, data-based developments in mobility and logistics, e-commerce and open data. One focus of her work is on accompanying scientific research and supporting knowledge transfer as well as networking; for example, in her work for the office of the Stadt.Land.Digital initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (2020-2023) as well as in the completed accompanying research for the mFUND funding programme of the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (2018-2020).
