The webinar is aimed at researchers, employees from ministries and public authorities, multipliers (economic development agencies, chambers of commerce, associations) and other parties interested in the economic dimensions of the digital transformation of manufacturing. The goal is to present key findings, provide room for questions and offer impulses for further debate. The following topics will be presented:
- Networked production - 360-degree overview of the prospects in SMEs: This study identifies the current state, needs, and barriers of networked production in the SME sector. Drawing on a literature review, expert interviews, and real-world practical examples, the paper provides a novel "Periodic Table of Networked Production” - a structured entry point into Industry 4.0 for SMEs. In addition, use cases from the SME sector illustrate how digital technologies are implemented in practice and what prerequisites, challenges and added value arise as a result.
- Scale-MX – Use Cases and Data Space Readiness for industrial applications: As part of the transfer and scaling project SCALE-MX (part of Manufacturing-X), we provide a compact overview of the project. The focus is on industrial use cases that show how sovereign and interoperable exchange of data along value chains can be implemented. In addition, we present the Data Space Readiness Checklist as a practical tool, that helps companies to systematically assess their current level of digitalization, evaluate their ability to connect to data spaces and derive targeted next steps on the path toward data-driven ecosystems.
- The Economics of Data Spaces – 6 Success Factors for Scaling Data Ecosystems: This study analyzes from an economic perspective how federated data spaces – such as Catena-X and the Mobility Data Space – must be designed to encourage companies, particularly SMEs, to actively participate in the exchange of data. The focus is on economic incentive mechanisms, transaction costs, network effects and the regulatory framework established by the Data Act, Data Governance Act and GDPR. From these findings, six success factors for scaling data ecosystems are derived.
We would be pleased have a dialogue and work together to further advance the academic debate on industry 4.0, networked production and secure exchange of data. Further information and the registration form can be found here.
