WIK report assesses impacts of different wholesale pricing models on the Australian broadband market

WIK develops a market model to forecast the take-up of NBN services until 2024 under different wholesale pricing scenarios and estimates the GDP effects of these scenarios.

WIK has provided consultancy services to Telstra in the context of a consultation on wholesale charges provided over the publicly-owned National Broadband Network (NBN) in Australia.

In the course of this project, WIK developed a market model to forecast the take-up of NBN services until 2024 under different wholesale pricing scenarios and estimated the resulting GDP effects. The analysis was supplemented by an international benchmark of several key broadband metrics in Australia and other leading economies and a discussion of future bandwidth requirements.

The report is confidential. Parts of the report have been included in Telstra's comments to the ACCC on the current consultation of the NBN price regime.
