Reality check: Open cadastral data in Germany

WIK presentation at the FOSSGIS Conference 2023 in Berlin

To what extent are geodata (precisely: data from public land registers) openly available in Germany? In a presentation at the FOSSGIS Conference 2023, Julia Wielgosch and Marina Happ presented the results of a recent WIK study and discussed current developments in the field of open governmental data with the participants.

The WIK study "Open Data in Cadastral Data" examines the availability of open cadastral data in all federal states of Germany as well as challenges, expectations and experiences of the providers (land survey offices) and (potential) users of this data.

At the FOSSGIS Conference 2023, Julia Wielgosch and Marina Happ presented the results of the study to an interested audience: over 150 conference visitors attended the presentation on site in Berlin. The event illustrated the importance of open government data for users and developers of free and open data applications.

The FOSSGIS conference is a major event for open source software for geoinformatics systems and open data. This year the conference took place from 15 to 18 March 2023 at the Geographical Institute of the Humboldt University in Berlin.

A recording of the presentation is available here (only in German).
